These notes relate to Consulting Services provided specifically by John Barnes and do not relate to services covered under the various defined consulting functions with clearly defined scope and costs.
In the last decade, I have been brining customers the benefit of 40+ years of IT and business experience. The depth and breadth of this knowledge is unparalled.
With such knowledge comes great demands and many of these demands are extremely time consuming. But I have attempted to accommodate all requests, many at no charge, and most at ludicrous rates for the knowledge applied.
However, this policy is ultimately self-defeating and this situation is affecting all customers to the point that vital projects are being delayed.
For some time [since Jan 2009] consulting rates have been posted on this web site, but for most existing clients, these rates have not been applied. Unfortunately, this has created a very unbalanced situation and it is now time to correct the situation to give fair access to all customers.
It is time to phase in all customers to current prevailing rates. It is only fair that there be a somewhat painless approach to this as the impact will be significant for many customers.
Expired: From 26 April 2010 until 31 July 2010, all existing customers will receive a 50% discount from existing published prices for 2010. From 1 Aug 2010 to 30 Sep 2010 a 25% discount will apply and from 1 Oct 2010 onwards, full rates will apply.
NEW: From 1 December 2011 until 31 March 2012, all existing customers will receive a 50% discount from published prices for 2012. From 1 April 2012 to 30 September 2012 full rates will apply. From 1 October 2012 to 31 December 2012 only Hourly Consulting will be available.
The amount of available personal consulting is limited!
There will be only 10 hours/week available for personal consulting contracts. Up to 40 hours/week has been assigned to Consulting in the past. From 1 May 2010, priority will be given to those customers who have signed onto the new consulting options and there will be a limit of 10 hours/week. Consulting time will be tracked on the support ticket system.
If you are currently using any of the NON-CONSULTING services, there is no change. This includes Web Hosting, Mail Hosting, Web Design, Software Sales, Web Servers etc. Each of these services clearly defines amount of support provided and the fees for such support.
If there is no NON-CONSULTING product which describes your requirements, then most likely you will be using consulting services. This would include such functions as Systems Planning, Software Recommendation, Systems Analaysis or Review, Audits, Equipment and Procedure Reviews, Support or Recommendations for 3rd Party Software.
From time-to-time, we will provide new NON-CONSULTING Products and Services, and these may be at very competative rates. If such servies are currently covered in a consulting contract, you will be given the option of modifying your consulting contract, wi th no penalty, to take advantage of the new offers.
In most cases these products and services will not necessarily be assigned directly to John.
Although this will bring change, the additional time that is made available by the change will allow for a more responsive service. If you are a customer who will be affected by this change of policy, you will be contacted directly by email with a reference to this web page.
