vDedicated Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ]

Q: What is a vDedicated Server?
A: A vDedicated server is a virtual server with a dedicated operating system such as Microsoft Windows 2008 server or Sun Solaris 10. With a vDedicated server, you can upgrade your operating system at whatever time you want (You can even change it to a different operating system). You can install whatever software you want. You can config all software to whatever way you want. You can host hundreds or thousands of ebusiness applications or web sites on a single vDedicated Server.

Our vDedicated Servers utilize an innovative leading edge virtualization technology that inserts a thin layer of software directly on the computer hardware. This software layer creates virtual machines and contains a virtual machine monitor or " hypervisor " that allocates hardware resources dynamically and transparently so that multiple operating systems can run concurrently on a single physical computer without even knowing it. Such a fully functional virtual machine is called a virtual server and it can run its own operating system and applications just like a computer. The virtualization technology we use is so efficient that our vDedicated Servers perform and behave exactly like physical servers.

Q: What operating systems can I use for a vDedicated Server?
A: Our vDedicated Servers support many different types of operating systems: Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows XP, CentOS Linux, Sun Solaris, Fedora Linux, Debian Linux, openSUSE Linux, Ubuntu Linux, Gentoo Linux, Slackware Linux, FreeBSD, and many other operating systems.

Q: How many IPs do I get for a vDedicated Server?
A: You get one IP for each vDedicated Server. Addtional IPs can be requested after IP usage justification is verified.

Q: How much bandwidth do I get for a vDedicated Server?
A: The bandwidth you get is based on the server plan you selected.

Standard plan: 2mbps
Silver plan: 4mbps
Gold plan: 6mbps
SuperNova plan: 10mbps

You can purchase additional bandwidth at anytime.

1mbps of port speed may get you number of GBs in Monthly Total Data Transfers as follows:

1mbps = 1 megabit per second
= 60 megabits per minutes (1 minutes = 60 seconds)
= 3600 megabits per hour (1 hour = 60 minutes)
= 86400 megabits per day (1 day = 24 hours)
= 2592000 megabits per month (1 month = 30 days)
= 324000 megabytes per month (1 byte = 8 bits)
= 324 gigabytes per month (1 gigabyte = 1000 megabytes roughly)
= 324 GBs per month ( GB = GigaByte )

vDedicated Server Standard Plan may get 648 GBs of Monthly Data Transfer;
vDedicated Server Silver Plan may get 1296 GBs of Monthly Data Transfer;
vDedicated Server Gold Plan may get 1944 GBs of Monthly Data Transfer;
vDedicated Server SuperNova Plan may get 3240 GBs of Monthly Data Transfer;

A typical webpage is about 10,000 bytes. So 1GB is about 100,000 pageviews. 648 GBs you may get in our standard plan is about 64.8 millions pageviews per month.
